Character Development

Character Development

At Arbor, we understand that education in virtues starts with the environment created by everyone within our school community—administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students.

As the saying goes, “Only a school of character can aspire to foster character in its pupils.” Therefore, Arbor strives to create an environment that exemplifies the very virtues we aim to cultivate in our students.

The Character Development Programme at Arbor is tailored to the needs and maturity level of each child. Each month, the school focuses on a specific virtue, encouraging students to incorporate it into their daily lives. Teachers facilitate discussions on these virtues in the classroom and guide students in practicing them. Parents are also encouraged to nurture these virtues at home, reinforcing the lessons learned at school.

This program is complemented by a culture of good habits and behavior, which are continuously modeled and reinforced by our community. Through academic activities, personal relationships, and everyday interactions between staff and students, we create an environment where character and virtue flourish naturally.

Alive to the World

Alive to the World is a complete values-based educational program which we use in our Primary School that captivates students, guiding them at each stage through the life situations, desires and questionings, and the disappointments and triumphs of every young person, indicating the keys to success and happiness.

Used in over two dozen countries, ATW trains our teachers to help students relate to the situations and concerns portrayed, which are set according to their natural development stages.    The program is designed to be used one hour per week throughout the school year.

 Pastoral Care

Spiritual development plays a key role in Arbor’s approach to character education. The integration of Catholic faith is a core element of our educational philosophy, guiding our practices and interactions within the school.

While we respect and honor the diverse faiths of our students and their families, our students benefit from Pastoral Support provided by the Priests of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei.

Throughout the academic year, we celebrate Holy Mass and offer the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation to all members of our school community. The Chapel at Arbor Primary is open to students, parents, teachers, and staff for reflection, prayer, and spiritual support.

A central commitment at Arbor is to help our students understand, appreciate, and integrate the moral and spiritual teachings of the Catholic faith into their everyday lives. We aim to foster a deep, personal connection to faith that is not just academic, but transformative.

Arbor’s three-fold approach to spiritual development includes religious instruction, regular worship experiences, and personal spiritual guidance from our chaplain. Our teachers are also committed to guiding students in living a life of devotion, with supportive guidelines to help them grow spiritually.
